TCNJ Sweeps NJAC Men’s Swimming & Diving Weekly Honors; McChesney, Wu, Park Honored

PITMAN, NJ — The New Jersey Athletic Conference has announced its men’s swimming and diving weekly honors for the week ending Nov. 20.

SWIMMER OF THE WEEK

JAMES McCHESNEY • The College of New Jersey

Junior • Hillsborough, NJ/Hillsborough

McChesney earns his second consecutive NJAC Swimmer of the Week honors after leading No. 13 TCNJ in a tri-meet with No. 3 Johns Hopkins and No. 6 NYU. He posted two individual wins and runner-up finish along with leading the Lions’ 400 free relay to a win. His winning 200 free time of 1:39.53 hit the NCAA ‘B’ cut standard and currently ranks as the third fastest time in NCAA Division III. His winning 100 free time of 45.60 is the fastest in the NJAC and 15th nationally. McChesney also matched his personal best time in the 100 fly with a 50.48. He swam a 23.50-second split on the winning 400 free relay that clocked a 3:06.26 to rank number one in the NJAC and 12th in D3.

DIVER OF THE WEEK

MICHAEL WU • The College of New Jersey

Sophomore • Plainsboro, NJ/West Windsor-Plainsboro North

Wu earns his first NJAC Diver of the Week honor after a strong showing at the USMMA Memorial Invitational. He hit the regional qualifying standard for the second time this season on the 3-meter board, collecting 287.90 points in six dives and placing second at the meet. He owns the second-highest score in the NJAC on the 3-meter board this season, behind only teammate Ethan Weiss. Wu also competed on the 1-meter board over the weekend, collecting 243.30 points in six dives. He currently owns the third-highest point total in the NJAC on the 1-meter board.

ROOKIE OF THE WEEK

RICHARD PARK • The College of New Jersey

Freshman • Metuchen, NJ/St. Joseph

Park is named NJAC Rookie of the Week for the second time this season after strong performances in No. 13 TCNJ’s tri-meet with No. 3 Johns Hopkins and No. 6 NYU. He swam leadoff to the Lions’ 400 free relay that clocked a 3:06.26 to rank 12th in NCAA Division III. His split of 47.34 seconds was a lifetime best and ranks as the second-fastest in the NJAC this season. He also swam the 50 free (21.83) and 100 fly (52.28), posting top-eight times in the conference, and was part of TCNJ’s 200 medley relay that clocked a 1:34.07. The Lions’ 200 medley relay own the top time in the NJAC this year.
