Sydney rents hit record highs in the third quarter, as soaring prices for home sales, also at a record, and rising mortgage rates push potential buyers into the rental market. The median rent for a house in the city was A$650 (US$403) per week, an increase of 4.8% from last quarter and 14% compared to a year ago, according to data released by Domain Thursday. Toronto Has the Highest Housing-Bubble Risk in the World, UBS Says
Toronto has the highest housing bubble risk among 25 major cities, and Vancouver is also one of the most at-risk cities in all of North America, according to a report by Swiss Bank UBS. House price levels in these two cities “have more than tripled in the last 25 years” and there have been “flashing warning signals in the last couple of years,” UBS said.
